It is not as if the Malacca CM was present personally when all those decisions were taken. The CM has no idea who the sponsors were. The CM has no idea where the tents, the tables and chairs came from. The CM has no idea why so many ‘kakitangan' (staff) were there to help out.

The CM has no idea why he was so popular and why so many people would want to come to his son's wedding.

Odin: Cases of corruption not dealt with over a long period are dismissed as ‘old stories'. Cases which are still fresh cannot be dealt with because of archaic laws.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Mohd Shukri Abdull, what other bright ideas do you have to explain away your unwillingness to do the right thing?

On the other hand, one can understand your position. After all, if you do your job, you will be given the sack.

When that happens, how are you going to continue to make the monthly instalment payments on your children's smart phones, their iPads, their and your PCs, your car, TV, air-conditioners, fridge, oven, washing machine, rice cooker, electric water kettle, sound system, fans, vacuum cleaner, hair dryers, etc?

Roadrunner: In Abdul Taib Mahmud's case, Shukri said the Sarawak CM "was absent from meetings where the decision to award state deals to (son) Bekir were made."

Similarly, Ali Rustam was absent from all meetings where the state agencies discussed and planned for his son's wedding. So there's no case against Mohd Ali, right?

I bet you will come to that conclusion.

Hornbill Will Soar: Spare us the expected lame excuse that the CM was not at the meeting when Malacca State Development Corporation (PKNM) CEO Yusof Jantan ordered state agencies to sponsor the wedding.

Move over MACC, let us the rakyat decide with that one sacred vote in each of our hand whether these shameless politicians are guilty or not.

Gordon Gecko: One thing is for sure. Don't expect to see any political aide of Ali Rustam falling from the MACC building in the course of the investigations.

For all we know, some of the MACC officials could be present at the wedding function enjoying the ‘corrupt' food, drinks, facilities and entertainment.

Nadarajan Rengasamy: Again and again, Ali Rustam is plagued with corruption and he has no qualms about it. He is working hard to occupy a top federal position come next election and he will do anything to achieve that.

He is now flexing his muscle by showing PM Najib Razak the type of support he allegedly commands.

The jailing of former Selangor MB Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for corruption has not really sunk in his mind and he has yet to appreciate the emergence of people's power and he still thinks he can get away with it.

Senior Citizen: I, too, know this is what will happen - the case investigated and no further action taken. This country has reached a serious degree of decadence and it will eventually lead to the downfall of the Umno-BN empire.

MACC, my advise to you is this - go full-throttle and charge the wrongdoers. You will be exonerated by Pakatan Rakyat when they take over Putrajaya.

I have been doing my own surveys during the course of my work and believe me, I have yet to come across one single Malay, one single Chinese and one single Indian who will vote BN. Period.

Bmjr: Ali Rustam's answer would be one of the following:

1) This being a Guiness Book of Records event, it will put Malacca on the world map, so rightly the Tourism Ministry should pay for it.

2) The spiteful Indians and Chinese can go back to their own countries and so can the spiteful Malays.

3) This is my revenge against all those who had prevented me from becoming prime minister.

4) You mean I cannot put my hand into the state's cookie jar for my own son's wedding?

5) Does the MACC not have anything better to do, like see if any DAP, PKR or PAS officer has spent RM2,500 of public funds on anything suspicious?

Shanandoah: The MACC is now on trial not the CM of Malacca. With all the evidence and public opinion on this lavish extravaganza paid for by state agencies and interested parties for a private wedding ceremony, how will the MACC cover up this blatant abuse of power?

Pah: We already know the MACC's answer - we checked and found nothing wrong.
