Koh calls on Gerakan to break zero in Penang

your say Vijay47: The arrogance of Umno and BN should have seen Koh Tsu Koon stating that Gerakan was determined to win back Penang. But instead, he was begging to just break the duck, to perhaps get one miserable seat.

It is equally telling that much of the attacks on the Penang government seems to focus on Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's alleged cockiness.

Since when did haughtiness amount to a crime and speaking of crime, isn't there an almost endless list of sins and abuse to lay at BN's door - a list that runs from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching to Johor Bahru?

Lim's success and track record as chief minister speaks for itself. Yet to demonstrate his usefulness to mankind, Koh has to rely on an incident that occurred 15 years ago. Is that all you did, and what did you do in the meantime?

Somewhere else I wrote that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak could soon apply for the job of a comedian. Koh can join him and they can sell themselves as the new Laurel and Hardy. But hardly anyone would be laughing. And not to the bank.

ONG: Apart from Koh Tsu Koon, former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Penang deputy education director (Chinese) at that time, others will not know for sure the truth of Koh's story about the Penang education director's post.

However, knowing how Anwar was like during his Umno days, I certainly think that Koh's story is entirely plausible.

Therefore, it is not reasonable for people to simply claim that Koh is making up the story. Whether or not Anwar is still as arrogant and as racist now as he was then is a different matter altogether.

If he has actually reformed, it could be due to the whacking he received from former police chief Abdul Rahim Noor. Those blows by Rahim to his head could have accidentally corrected some misaligned circuits in his brain.

Citi: Gerakan president Koh, how to break zero when Gerakan is totally irrelevant and burying its head in sand? Merging with DAP is a better option for the people of Penang and Malaysia.

Clever Voter: Gerakan, through its association with a tainted coalition, will never be able to make a comeback.

If the party is to win the grassroots, it will need to the following three things:

1) Get rid of party president Koh.

2) Denounce the corrupt practices of the coalition, and publicly asked for those responsible to be arrested.

3) Accept that DAP has done a better job after less than a term.

It's as simple as that.

So how can Gerakan rise from death? Do just one thing right for all Malaysians - be 100 percent against corruption. Maybe, just maybe, Penangites will give you face again to get back some deposits.

Kgen: Koh, there is no need to bring up incidents 15 years ago. If your party is good they can attract voters without having to reach way back into the past to throw mud on others. This is the sign of a very small mind.

Onyourtoes: I find your story most difficult to believe. First, you are not known to lift a finger to help those who work for you, so why must you pay so much attention to this deputy director?

In fact, your revelation shows that there have been rampant and unwanted interventions by politicians on matters that are purely administrative. It is politicians who have politicised the whole civil service and hence eroded its neutrality and professionalism.

May I know on what basis you lobbied for this deputy director? Is it because he was a Chinese? Is it because he was good? Is it because he was related to you or had done you a great favour?

It is very unusual for you to lobby two federal ministers on his behalf.

Between 1997 and now is 15 years. What did you do with this problem during the past 15 years? If you think this officer deserved the promotion but was bypassed because he was a Chinese, what did you do?

Finally, can you please ask the officer concerned to confirm or deny what you have said?

Ferdtan: This story that happened long ago was brought up by Koh now to try to paint Anwar as a racist for not acceding to his recommendation to promote a Penang deputy director of education.

He added a new, but irrevelant, dimension to the issue by saying that the person was a Chinese. Now who is more racist?

This is typical of Koh, he was never the confronting person, the nice guy, that never dared to meet his foes head-on. That was his only failure - no balls to stand up for the common Penangites to stop the marauding Umnoputras who plundered with impunity the wealth of the state.

Anonymous #19098644: Why change? Fifty-five years of misgovernment is enough. From being on 23 the Corruption Perception Index to 60. From been one of the safest places in the world to being afraid of stepping out of one's house because of crime.

From having respected state institutions, such as the judiciary, Bank Negara, the civil service, etc, to one in which they decayed to such an extent that they have become tools of the decadent BN government.

From been a tolerant multiracial and multireligious country to one which is deeply divided by racism and religious intolerance. That is why we must change the corrupt government in the next elections. Enough is enough.
