PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has been accused of double standards for complaining about the delay in tabling the auditor-general's report in Parliament.

This is in view of the Selangor government’s lengthy delay in issuing a White Paper on the Talam Corporation debt restructuring exercise.

NONE In a statement yesterday, Selangor MCA secretary Wong Koon Mun (left) said Anwar, as Selangor economic adviser, should be more concerned with the tabling of the White Paper in the state legislative assembly.

Wong, the Kuala Kubu Baru state assemblyperson, said Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has yet to keep his pledge on the White Paper since 2010, but that Anwar has been silent about this.

“This shows that Anwar is not suitable to serve as an economic advisor,” said Wong

Anwar was appointed state economic adviser in November 2009, with a token monthly allowance of RM1 .

As the parliamentary Opposition Leader, Anwar had on Monday criticised the federal government's decision not to release the auditor-general's report alongside Budget 2013 on Friday.

He said the audit report should be tabled before the new budget in order for MPs to prepare for the debate and remedy any excesses.

‘Pakatan agenda’

Wong rubbished Anwar's remarks and claimed that Pakatan Rakyat's aim is to use the audit report to tarnish BN.

“Pakatan is hoping that the auditor-general's report will be filled with mistakes that they can use (the information) to overthrow the BN government and scare voters,” he said.

Wong said there was nothing wrong with de facto law minister Mohd Nazri Aziz's explanation that the audit report will be tabled a week or two later, so that the lawmakers’ focus remains on Budget 2013.

“This is a sensible reason, and there is nothing wrong with it and there is no hidden agenda as claimed by Anwar,” said Wong.
