Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today called on the people to give the BN another term in government so that it could bring more development to the country.

"Believe me, the government will continue championing to become a developed nation with the people's support.

"What more if we get a new mandate, certainly there is much more that we can do," he told a crowd of over a 1,000 people at the launching of the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

Najib noted that BN has overseen rapid development of the country since independence, so much so that today's urban population exceeds that of the rural areas.

NONE "Even though we are proud of being a successful nation, the challenge now is in the management of that success.

"We need to reorient and re-look at our mindset so that we can adapt to the country's changing landscape.

"Which is why while we maintain rural development, we are re-balancing so that the we can improve the quality of life for the urban people," he said.

Part of the government's strategy of development, Najib said, was also to incorporate the building of an advanced civilisation.

"And if we are to build a nation and a civilisation that we need to have such values such as intellectualism, art, literature and our ability to innovate," he said.

Revolutionary services on offer

An example of this innovation was UTC KL - the new name for Pudu Sentral - which will serve as a one-stop station for government agencies and also contains various facilities, including a futsal court, said Najib.

The Pudu Sentral complex's parking bay was converted to host 31 government agencies open from 8.30am to 10pm daily, including Sundays.

"We are the only country in the world that provide such great services for the rakyat's comfort, I have never seen such services elsewhere, this is revolutionary," Najib declared.

This, he adds, was part of the government's effort to improve the quality of life of urbanites and not merely rely on figures such as income per capita as a barometer for the country's development.
