Money politics is not corruption, says MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek.

This is his response to the PKR proposal that he refer his money politics allegation against a woman deputy minister from the MCA to the Malayian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

One example of money politics, Chua said, is purchasing things for people during the New Year, which cannot be considered as corruption.

NONE Chua gave this reply when asked by reporters at a dinner in Ipoh on Tuesday, Chinese newspaper Oriental Daily News reported today.

Chua had earlier accused a "female deputy minister" of money politics, citing complaints he received on the matter, but later insisted that he was making a general statement that was not directed at particular person.

Women, Family and Community Deputy Minister Heng Seai Kie ( above, right ) is MCA's only female deputy minister. She has denied any wrongdoing.

Following Chua's statement, PKR leaders urged him to report the matter to MACC.
