PKR bags another Sabah Umno corporate figure

Bert: PKR has had very bad experiences during the past four years or so, with MPs and state assemblypersons becoming BN-friendly. As the general election draws nearer, some are jumping to PKR.

This is nothing to celebrate about. PKR must be very careful to not face the same situation again after GE 13, as there is no law to prevent elected Pakatan Rakyat MPs and state assemblypersons becoming BN-friendly.

Former Tanjung Aru Umno division chief Yahya Lampong is also the vice-president of Malay rights pressure group Perkasa. All the more, PKR must be extra careful. Is Yahya a Trojan horse planted in PKR?

Roadrunner: I am sure Pakatan has learnt its lessons from all the past ‘frogging' experiences.

However, it would be comforting and reassuring if Pakatan could let its supporters know what measures are being taken to ensure that past mistakes are never repeated.

I read with trepidation the news of Umno people jumping ship.

Hmmmmmmmm: Accept them by all means even if it is just to demoralise BN but don't promise them anything and make it clear to them that they will not be fielded in the next general election.

They may be considered for the general election after next, if they help Pakatan win this time.

Good men: These are all old stock, whose use-by date has long expired. If they want to contribute to the opposition's struggle, then of course they are welcome to prove themselves.

But better not even think of fielding them as candidates, because not only is that going backwards, they will later turn round and bite you. We want fresh faces and progressive thinkers, not old stock that is already gone ‘busuk' (gone bad).

Odin: If I were Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, I wouldn't be too jubilant about his catch. They seem not only to be eels, but ones that are a shade too long in the tooth. I'd smoke or salt them, and then put them away for a while before eating them.

Mano: PKR, be very wary. Ever heard of Trojan horses? I believe there was one during the Perak fiasco who jumped from BN to Pakatan and then enticed the frogs from Pakatan into BN.

Please, we would not want these frogs to stand in the next general election. Let them prove their loyalty for one full term first.

All these defections raise the question of what these guys are thinking. Is it that they expect Pakatan Rakyat to win so that they can continue their grafting uninterrupted by a change of government?

Watcher: Anwar has lost it all. He is taking in garbage from Umno. All those names are rejects of Umno without any hope to be picked by Umno as candidates for GE 13. Obviously they are joining PKR hoping to be the candidates for PKR.

Talk about PM Najib Razak being desperate, what's so different about Anwar? Anwar should depend on the younger generation to lead the charge this GE13 and not all these has-beens who are just selfish opportunists.

They will not hesitate to jump when offered the right price after winning. What a disappointment.

Anonymous #71627369: Recruitment of spent forces. Why are they joining PKR? Is it because they know Sabah is going ABU (Anything But Umno) and these people have gone into ‘save themselves' mode?

My conclusion is, if my observations are true, the people of Sabah are goners whether Umno BN or Pakatan wins. Sabah needs to look for other alternatives.

MatrixLYN: Like it or not, we need hopping frogs to f destabilise BN. Similarly, I bet BN will strike back and there will even be more frogs jumping out of Pakatan soon... it's inevitable.

Headhunter: PKR has to be very careful. All these frogs are not exactly men known for their principle. These are opportunists who are now fearful of losing power and PKR is being taken for a free ride to revive their flagging career.

WiseManSays: PKR needs to have stronger principles. They need to recruit and groom young, smart and caring leaders. Taking in ‘kataks' (frogs), especially racist types, shows poor judgement. This does not demonstrate strong leadership in PKR at all.

Alfa: Is PKR now known ‘Parti Katak Rakyat'? Has PKR learnt its lessons from putting ‘katak' as candidates in last general election?

Bersih@428: Readers must note that these leaders are jumping as they are judging for themselves the crowds that are flowing into Pakatan and PKR ceramah in Sabah and Sarawak.

It's reminiscent of the dying Berjaya days and these leaders know it's better to jump now than after the fact because if they do it later, it is too late to enjoy the fruits of victory.

These are Umno guys who are jumping. And there are plenty more where these four come from. Dream on Najib and DPM Muhyiddin Yassin, dream on. Even Perkasa is being deserted.

Stories: I don't want an alternative government to BN which has Perkasa members in it.
