Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim will announce the results of the state’s voter verification exercise in two weeks, said state exco member Elizabeth Wong.

“We have done a through audit for all the state assembly seats, so it is a matter of collation of information,” she said.

NONE The Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson ( left ) added that there were 13,000 new voters surveyed under the ‘ Selangorku Bersih ’ campaign in her constituency alone, but declined to disclose any further details.

“You will have to wait,” Wong told Malaysiakini during Subang PKR and Subang PSM’s open house in Subang Perdana today.

The verification exercise was announced in April after the state recorded a spike in new voter registrations, raising concerns of electoral fraud aimed at toppling the Pakatan Rakyat-led government.

When asked about the progress of Selangor’s efforts to take over the water concessionaire Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Wong said there has been no response from Energy, Clean Energy and Water Minister Peter Chin although all the relevant documents have been submitted to him two or three weeks ago.

NONE “He has to tell us (an answer). If he rejects it, tell us why. Do not just shelve it somewhere and forget all about it. They are pretending that they have not received anything,” she said.

On Aug 31 Chin ( right, on motorbike ) was reported in Bernama saying that the federal government was willing to help the Selangor government to take over the water concessionaires.

"If the Selangor government is able to take over, we have no objection to that. We can go along with it but the restructuring efforts should adhere to the laws," he was reported as saying.
