Anwar: If I become PM, I won't stay in Putrajaya

your say Odin: With the deplorable state that Malaysia is in economically, its leaders ought to be frugal and not be ostentatious.

Living in mansions and spending millions a year on electricity and water, one-half million ringgit on their offspring's engagement party and RM80,000 on their birthday party (both expenses alleged to have been met from public funds and the matter has not been disproved convincingly), when the country is heavily in debt and very many are ‘hardcore' poor, smacks of the style of the presidents of banana republics and African countries such as Zimbabwe.

Ghkok: Well, this makes sense. Fifty-five years of corruption has brought our country down. Our federal debt is at a record high. It's getting scary.

Whoever becomes PM after the next GE, should start looking at how federal government can start cutting cost and restore our country's finances. Otherwise, we are doomed.

I doubt a PM from the BN will be able to do that. They haven't done that for 55 years. It's time for us to make a change and to cement a two-party system.

Gandhi: Of all the deputy prime ministers, DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) faced the worst treatment by the government. Why? Is it because he's a threat or popular, or both?

All of these mistreatment meted out on him has hardened him to be a wise leader. Sympathy for him is irreversible. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise that he went through these torments to become a more reasonable person.

His astuteness in keeping the opposition stable is testimony that he can be a powerful leader for all races. He is pegged as the leader who can herald changes for the good of the people. Leadership is only inherent in a few and DSAI is a classic example.

Joe Fernandez: Umno-BN will never make a comeback once voted out of power. They would have to be re-born in another avatar.

An audit/due diligence of Umno-BN's 55 years in power will reveal how much of the national debt burden was stolen from the Treasury and salted away overseas.

Many of the Umno-BN leaders will be counting the bars soon even if they run away as the 13th GE results come in.

Wira: DSAI had proven to be an able minister before to handle our money. It was during his tenure as finance minister, the country was able to have a surplus in its annual budget, consecutively from 1994, three years after he became the finance minister, to 1998, the year he was ousted.

All other years from 1970 to 2011, our federal budget had always been in the red.

But Umno will not die and will continue to survive when voted out for two terms. This is because Umno is still filthy rich and have support within the civil service.

Parliament must ensure that political patronage with public money ought to be eradicated for the good of the country.

Fz2379: With due respect, Anwar should have pursued further studies in his early days instead of inciting varsity students to become rebels without a cause. He was a bright student but he became obsessed with rebel culture and used Abim (Malaysian Muslim Youth Movement) as a vehicle to garner support.

He knew how to fool the narrow-minded followers by exploiting their stupidity. In fact, he preached some silly stuff such as throwing away TV sets, sleeping on the floor, wearing gunny sacks for clothing, growing goat's beard and many other nonsense.

His followers were too naive and obeyed his charismatic con game, even today. This power-crazy man will fight on his death bed to be PM even if only for one day. He will be KOed this coming GE.

And his trick will be to get ‘frogs' to jump to his side. Then he will declare another 916 (Sept 16), and he will be screaming foul when he loses. You know that age-old sorry excuse of EC (Election Commission) ‘penipu' (cheat).

Dingy: I'd never liked Anwar when he was DPM. I always voted for MCA until 2008. MCA members have since voted a ‘porn star' as president and Umno elected a murder suspect and corrupted leader as their president. I cannot accept both of these tainted leaders.

Now that I have been introduced to alternative media, it has opened by eyes not to trust the mainstream media. So for the first time, I and my family will vote for Pakatan Rakyat. Many of my friends, who were pro-BN, have also decided to vote for change.

Akutuan: I met Anwar at the Parliment inside the lift. I asked permission to shake his hand and he said "sure".

Then he asked me which floor am I going? Due to my job position at that time, I just said "meeting someone up there". He was not angry, annoyed or unhappy but smiled with full understanding compared with a few YBs who were with him.

This is what I call a great leader with good human touch. Do you think our BN minister will act that way?

Smart Guy: The level of Anwar idolism here is massive. Writer Terence Netto deserves a Nobel prize for political fiction.

No wonder many poor and suffering Chinese are moved to tears. At least, Anwar did not forget them. You should see some of the abject poverty and squalid condition in their backyard. But alas, nobody bothered.

Here Anwar speaks the truth and the reality. I shall not mention the Indians and the rest for I am sure they catch the drift of the message too.

My vote goes to PAS' Nizar Jamaluddin as new MB of Perak post-GE 13.
