The fate of former PAS deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa will be decided by the Syura Council for his comments that had appeared to drive a wedge between the party and the DAP.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang ,who chaired the political bureau meeting today, noted that Nasharuddin was no longer part of the party's central committee or its political bureau and therefore the matter had not been brought up at the meeting.

"But he is still a committee member of the Syura Council. So we leave it to the Syura Council to decide what are the appropriate steps where Nasharuddin is concerned," PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang told a press conference at the party's Kuala Lumpur headquarters this afternoon.

He had also raised eyebrows as the statement was made during his trip with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to Saudi Arabia with their picture splashed on the front page of Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia .

Commenting on the trip, Abdul Hadi described Umno as lacking in religious leaders to the extent that they would recruit them from PAS.

However, he said that this would not affect the party.

Abdul Hadi said PAS will press on with its hudud law aim but only through the democratic process.

"If DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh does not agree, that is his right, this is democracy. We support democracy.

"But PAS will not stop, hudud is a Muslim responsibility," he said.
