Selangor BN has posed questions over what it sees as a state government grab of land worth RM250 million.

NONE Coordinator Mohd Zin Mohamed (centre in photo) noted that the Selangor government's listed subsidiary, Kumpulan Hartanah Sdn Bhd (KHSB), has been reluctant to defend its land and that this implies something is fishy.

Mohd Zin said the land, located in Gombak, was seized by the state on Aug 25, 2011, following alleged illegal sand mining.

However, KHSB had failed to lodge an appeal in court within the stipulated three months of seizure.

Instead, he said, an appeal was made to the Gombak land and minerals department.

"Is (KHSB) colluding with the state to let go of the land? To date, minority shareholders have not received an explanation over the loss of RM250 million worth of land,” said Mohd Zin.

"Is this a conspiracy by KHSB (leaders) and the Selangor menteri besar to grab high-value land for their own purposes?"

Mohd Zin claimed that the seizure also “went against court orders” as the court had on Aug 4, 2011 declared that the 234ha land belongs to KHSB subsidiary SAP Holdings Bhd.

“The seizure was made without the knowledge of the majority of KHSB shareholders,” he said.

The former works minister also questioned why the seizure was made a year after illegal mining had purportedly occurred.

“Mining is not a fly by night operation. Their machines would have been there.

“In fact, we question if indeed there is illegal mining there and we will take the media to the location after Hari Raya Aidilfitri to have a look,” he said.

Meanwhile, in an immediate response, Selangor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim denied that the seizure had benefited him or KHSB, but the people of Selangor.

He added that the state enforces the law on everyone, including state subsidiaries like SAP Holdings.

“We don’t want to give land to a party which does not use it for what it’s for when there are people in Selangor who still need a roof over their heads.

“It’s time we ensure whatever land is given to people is used in accordance to its usage,” he said.

‘PAS practices slander in politics’

Mohd Zin said the court’s findings that there were elements of libel against Selangor Umno in the PAS organ Harakah ’s report is gratifying.

This is despite the fact that the Shah Alam High Court had thrown out the case, as Mohd Zin, who was the plaintiff, has no locus standi.

“The finding is more valuable than the (RM10 million) compensation sought as it proves that PAS has all the while practiced slander in politics,” he said.

The lawsuit, relating to a Harakah article on the raid on the Damansara Utama Methodist Church last year, was thrown out as Umno’s office bearer is actually central secretary Abdul Rauf Jusof.

“We are considering re-filing the suit, but I am awaiting advice from my lawyer,” he said.
