Don't fret over crime stats polemics, PM tells cops

your say Melayu1: The PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) should realise that they themselves are not 100 percent guilty for not doing their intended job.

The main culprits are politicians like PM Najib Razak who misused them as if PDRM is his ‘toy boys' to be ordered to do his dirty political job. Somehow, sometime, the PDRM must grow some balls to say no to these misuses and abuses.

PDRM must start following the laws and stop being enslaved by corrupt politicians. Don't go to hell with the corrupt, you don't deserve it!

Your real job is very honourable and respectable. If done right, you will be rewarded in the afterlife.

Rakyat Malaysia: I agree that the police is not the main culprit here. The bigger part of the responsibility falls on BN. The police have been brainwashed and controlled by BN to do their dirty job instead of protecting the citizens and fighting crime.

Telestai!: When looking at the rising crime rate and the vehement denial by the BN government, it dawn upon me that the ineffectiveness of the police is probably a good reflection of the rot at the federal government.

With Najib mollycoddling the police, he is indirectly admitting that the high crime rate is not really the fault of the police but the inability of the BN government to provide leadership. It is beginning to make sense.

We are sorry to hurt your feelings, PDRM. Please go back to your slumber and enjoy your hard-earned rest. Sleep well and sweet dreams. Meanwhile, we the rakyat will now do some self-chastisement and we promise to never doubt your crime statistics ever again.

Gen2: The BN slogan is that it is a government that listens to the people. Now we know its true colours. Najib is telling the police not to listen to the rakyat. No wonder, the police are arrogant.

It happened to me. Despite insisting to be issued a summons for a minor traffic offence, the cop kept asking me to "settle with" him. After I refused, he asked me to drive off. What kind of police officer was that?

Anonymous #18452573: Any police force can improve with new management. We need a truly professional, upright and virtuous IGP (inspector-general of police) and deputy IGP to develop a police force we can be proud of.

We always hear about how the police force was well-run, incorruptible and had a good mix of various ethnic groups just after the British left.

But with Dr Mahathir Mohamad and BN's reign, we saw the sad decline of the police force to the point almost all of the police leadership today might as well be BN politicians.

Promotions for non-Malays were few and far between. There are still many good cops in our PDRM but they won't be given a chance to rise until Pakatan takes over.

Bender: Good advice, Najib. Especially on the SOP (standard operating procedure) part. I see you have upgraded your own SOP, particularly with regard to dishing out public money.

It used to be that you only give money to the poor and needy segment of society. Now, it seems your policy is somewhat like this: "What the heck, why don't I give all these money that's not mine to begin with, to everyone that can nudge me a point or two in the coming GE.

"I start with the police themselves, the younger and more brutal they are, the better. Hopefully with this bribe (well, they're much too young and too brutal to care if it's a bribe even though they are the police) they're more willing to whack whoever dare go against my will."

Well, I can go on and on with this, but I'm tired already...

Disbeliever: There are many good cops and some bad cops. The latter being the ‘legal gangsters' in blue kicking and beating up members of the media and innocent protesters during the Bersih 3.0 rally.

Indeed, we have seen no action against these licensed thugs.

Mob1900: The question is how many 'good' cops are there in the force? Remember during Bersih 3.0 violence, not a single cop came out to admit they were wrong despite that evidence of police brutality were everywhere.

Not Confused: Of course, Najib has to try to sound optimistic and encourage the police to improve and transform.

However, with the current leadership, including the BN cabinet, the public perception is unlikely to improve until there is a complete root-and-branch clear-out of the current dead wood, BN sycophants and the majority of the top leadership in PDRM.

This will only happen when Pakatan takes over in Putrajaya. I have absolutely zero respect for the current police force of political wannabes, who are thugs and hoodlums.

SS2 Girl: It's all starting to make sense now. This denial of facts and blatant disregard for our sentiments is exactly how BN has been ruling all this while. That's why they can ‘advise' people about their perception nonsense without blinking an eye.

MC Leong: Can my taman's security guards enrol in the police academy? They may not be police grade, but at least they give my neighbours the ‘perception' of better security.
