The MIC has ordered its education arm MIED and its Penang Youth leader to prepare a “detailed report” to disprove allegations of wrongdoing involving MIC-owned Aimst University.

NONE Central working committee member S Vell Pari in a statement said investigations by authorities into the Aimst cafeteria contract had found no irregularities.

“Believing that dissent in governance is healthy culture, I have contacted and requested both the management of MIED and (J) Dhinagaran to prepare a detailed report to refute the allegations made by (PKR leader S) Gobikrishnan,” he said.

Yesterday, Gobikrishan, the PKR national strategy and policy bureau secretary, had revealed an audit report which showed that the company Jaya Cafe Holdings Sdn Bhd had made false claims for RM 90,000 and had received “privileged” treatment from Aimst.

Jaya Cafe is owned by Dhinagaran, while two of its directors were found to be related to other MIC leaders, including Youth chief T Mohan.

While admitting that the director is a relation of his, Mohan has denied that he had anything to do with the company and its operations.

‘Get Tony Pua’s help’

Vell Pari said that, once the report is ready, Gobikrishnan will be able to view it and decide if he wants to bring the matter up with the authorities.

“I would also call upon (the DAP’s Petaling Jaya MP) Tony Pua ... to study and explain the report to Gobikrishnan, so as to make sure he has clear comprehension,” he said.

If Gobikrishnan is satisfied with the explanation given in the report, he should apologise or risk a defamation suit from MIC, added Vell Pari.
