'BN scraping bottom of barrel in Pakatan-terrorist link'

DAP has slammed the BN government for “scraping the bottom of the barrel” to accuse Pakatan Rakyat of being infiltrated by communists and terrorists.
DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang ( below ) called upon Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein to explain why they allowed the police special branch to go public with allegations that Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorists and communists had infiltrated Pakatan Rakyat as candidates for the coming general election.
“Najib and Hishammuddin should explain why they are scraping the bottom of the barrel in giving the green light to the special branch to go public with their cock-and-bull story.
He said the report by Bernama yesterday would have been “laughed off and dismissed as the sickest political joke of the year, if not for the gravity of having such wild, scatter-brained and crackpot ideas influencing and determining policymaking at the highest government and security levels in the country”.
The national news agency in its report quoted said investigations by the special branch showed that Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorists and former communists were infiltrating opposition parties and trying to be fielded as candidates in the coming general election.
Making the claim was assistant director Mohd Sofian Md Makinuddin during his speech at the National Young Leaders Convention.
The police had made similar claims during the Bersih 3.0 rally on April 28. However, no basis has been provided for any of these claims.
“Have the Umno/BN leadership become so desperate in the face of the democratic electoral challenge from Pakatan Rakyat that they have to get the police special branch to conjure up the latest scare, the ‘cock-and-bull story’ of the JI and communists infiltrating Pakatan Rakyat parties?” he asked.
Setting the stage to 'remove' Pakatan leaders?
Lim questioned whether the story was meant to “set the stage” for a “special operation” against Pakatan leaders to remove them, so that they would not be a threat in the coming general election.
He also asked if this scare-mongering was an attempt by the special branch to justify the RM381 million it had “‘hogged” from the 2012 police budget
Lim then called on the police to devote their resources to fighting crime, rather than helping Umno and BN to maintain power.
He also questioned why the Biro Tatanegara (BTN) was involved in spreading “lies and poison” about PKR leaders.
Lim then pointed out that BTN was involved in last week’s 1Malaysia Social Media Convention to raise an army of 10,000 cybertroopers , who would ‘spin lies and falsehoods against Pakatan Rakyat parties’.
Lim challenged Najib, Hishammuddin and Mohd Sofian, who is the special branch’s social extremist threat division head, to identify the “DAP and PKR members who are closet JI terrorists or communists”, as well as to provide the names of those who had “infiltrated” the parties prior to the general election.
“If not, Mohd Sofian should withdraw and apologise for such a serious and baseless allegations or he should face disciplinary action.
“Najib and Hishammuddin should also answer these questions. The home minister in particular should tell Malaysian taxpayers when the special branch was recruited to be part of the Umno/BN propaganda machinery,” Lim added.
