The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) will be meeting on Monday among others to discuss its request for Aidilfitri bonus payment for about 1.4 million civil servants.

NONE Its president Omar Osman ( left ) said the request for bonus would be discussed from various aspects including the total and forms of payment.

He told Bernama that Cuepacs would also discuss the policies of the new Public Service Commission (PSC) which allowed candidates with bachelor’s degree to apply for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) positions.

Omar repeated Cuepacs’ stand of not agreeing with the policy as it would close career opportunities for SPM applicants apart from creating problems to the PSC in future.

“Apart from that, Cuepacs is also against the PSC policy of allowing candidates to submit in a single application for up to 15 positions compared to five before this,” he said when contacted today.

According to him, the decisions of Cuepacs on the two policies would be presented to PSC chairperson Mahmood Adam on July 19.

Apart from that, Omar said Cuepacs will also meet the new chief secretary to the government, Dr Ali Hamsa, in Kuala Lumpur on July 16.

Besides renewing acquaintance, he said Cuepacs hoped Ali would also give his views and commitment to champion the welfare of civil servants.
