MCA wants the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate abuse of power involving land in SS7, Kelana Jaya, used for sports activities that has been reclassified as commercial land without public consultation.

Loh said an investigation revealed there were three different local plans of the Selangor Economic Development Corporation (PKNS) field, which came to light after PKNS applied to develop a sports complex in SS7.

"One version was approved by the Selangor state assembly, and the other two versions by the Selangor Town and Rural Planning Department and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ)," he said.

Depriving public of a green lung

He added that Selangor's Select Committee on Competency, Accountability, and Transparency (Selcat) had not succeeded in determining those responsible for the reclassification in its hearing into the matter.

"Thus, I urge the MACC to investigate and severely punish those responsible for abusing their power in amending the local plan and depriving the public of a green lung," said Loh, who is also a member of MCA presidential council.

He said the Selangor government should be held responsible for constantly failing to consult with the people before implementing major development projects.

The proposal by PKNS to redevelop the PKNS field and sports complex has been met with strong opposition from residents in the locality.

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has said the final decision on the proposal would be made by Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Roslan Sakiman.
