Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) has restructured its distribution of water to affected areas to minimise the impact to consumers.

In a statement today, Syabas said 28 tankers and 32 static tanks have been deployed to supply water in the regions involved in water disruption.

However, due to the large number of affected areas, Syabas said it would give priority to critically affected areas before servicing other sectors.

“We hope that affected consumers will wait for the water tankers to deliver the water supply. We also urge consumers to reduce their water usage and conserve water during the current dry spell,” the statement said.

The water disruption occurred last week due to the current dry spell which had caused a drop in water level at the main reservoirs while demand has increased.

Currently, water disruption still occurred involving 42,080 consumers in the Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat regions.

Meanwhile, Syabas has activated the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) green code in Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat to ensure closer monitoring on water disruption in both regions.

For further information and complaints, consumers can contact the Syabas Service Centre at 1-800-88-5252, or by typing PUSPEL and sending to 39222, or through Twitter and Facebook .
