Former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said people in the Kepala Batas parliamentary constituency will not accept sexy dances performed at the Bertam Nite dinner, organised by PKR there last Sunday.

abdullah ahmad badawi 020209 02 Abdullah, who is the MP for Kepala Batas, said that he was shocked when he saw pictures of the performances and wondered what the function was about, which was also attended by PAS representatives.

"If they think that the performance could gain support from the people, they are wrong because it is not easy for people in Kepala Batas to accept the performance (sexy dance)," he told reporters after launching the annual general meeting of the Persatuan Qaryah-Qaryah Masjid Pulau Pinang today.

According to Bernama , Abdullah said that PAS leaders who were believed to be at the function, should advise the PKR members to be more sensitive to the community.

PKR state chairman Mansor Othman in a statement recently, denied that the sexy dance performed by three ladies wearing short skirts, was organised by the party.

According to Malay Mail , the company that sponsored the dance routine Public Pavilion Holdings Sdn Bhd (PPH) said the PKR Bertam had no knowledge of the performance.

PPH general manager Kenny Zhu said he regretted slotting in the dance and that it was solely an error on his part.

Second round of BR1M lauded

Meanwhile, Abdullah lauded the decision of the government to continue its 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) for the second round.

Abdullah said he believed the government under Prime Minister Najib Razak understood deeply the needs of the people.

"It is a good move if the government wants to give BRIM again and can afford to do so as it is in the interest of the people, especially the poor," he said.

He was commenting on a proposal to continue BRIM for the second round which was discussed during the cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, two days ago.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was reported to have said that the aid could be implemented if the government obtained an increase in income including in revenue collected by the Inland Revenue Board.
