Huge waves and high tides hit the coastal areas between Kuala Perlis and Kuala Sanglang yesterday, causing hundreds of homes to be flooded.   

Kuala Perlis assemblyperson Mat Hassan said houses were deluged with sea water due to big waves and rising tide which started at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Kampung Sungai Padang experienced panic when water rose to waist height within 15 minutes due to the phenomenon.  

Haliah Shaari, 52, said her house was flooded by sea water and mud causing damage to her property.

A survey found the coastal road between Kuala Perlis and Kuala Sanglang covered with mud and the victims still working hard to clean their homes.
