The Selangor government has been criticised for focusing on the 300,000 new voters in the electoral roll and not the 600,000 people yet to register as voters.

Selangor Barisan Nasional deputy chairperson Noh Omar said if the state could allocate RM1 million to do door-to-door survey of voters, then it should help register the 600,000 as voters.

"I'm surprised the Selangor government did not protest before the period expires but chose to do a survey it has no authority to do by law," he said after closing 'Konvensyen Media Sosial 1Malaysia Selangor' here today.

Noh was commenting a statement by Election Commission (EC) deputy chairperson Wan Ahmad Wan Omar that 600,000 people in Selangor had not registered as voters, the highest among all the states.

Some 3.6 million eligible Malaysians nationwide have yet to register as voters.
