MCA: Guan Eng, will you 'potong'?

your sayFerdtan: MCA chief Dr Chua Soi Lek, you only attacked DAP on question of appointment of a non-Malay PM. Since you can criticise others, we want to know what MCA and your stand on this matter is.

Do we have your support to have a non-Malay or a non-Muslim to be a PM? If yes, then tell us in no uncertain terms that you would demand from Umno that concession. If you dare not, don't talk big and be a hypocrite.

It's indeed highly disgraceful and disrespectful of him to treat a leader of the opposition this way.

The fact that Lim is an opposition leader doesn't entitle Chua or anybody to mistreat a fellow Malaysian in that manner who deserves due respect, etiquette and decorum.

This latest episode clearly shows Chua doesn't posses the kind of 'Chineseness' in him, let alone being the leader of the Chinese community.

Obviously, he has very little appreciation, if any, in Confucianism. On the issue of morality, may Chua be reminded it's not so much what others do that makes him less guilty of his own misbehaviour, but it's what he does that reflects badly on himself.

His behaviour, or rather 'misbehaviour', is a measure of his character and the fact others do the same doesn't in any way alleviate his guilt.

Lim Chong Leong: Chua is crude as can be. What 'potong-potong'? Circumcision is a sombre religious ritual that ought to be respected even by someone like him.

And what he said about a non-Malay PM is only true because politicians like him made it into the political reality as it is today, divided by race and religion.

Anonymous #07988903: Chua, your uncouth comment certainly reflects the mindset of your party. It really doesn't matter what race the PM is, as long as he or she genuinely takes care of the welfare of the rakyat.

Jedi_Who: Barack Obama became US president because the constitution allowed it. So too in Malaysia the constitution allows it. But who becomes PM for Pakatan Rakyat is dependent on the collective consensus of the coalition and the rakyat.

Chua is trying to win the election for MCA based on circumcised male parts. How can MCA contribute to our country and overall racial integration if that's all they have to say?

Anonyxyz: This type of ‘potong' remark is only used by common layman on the street. Chua as the leader of MCA voicing such comment reflects his poor image.

The last we heard of such comments from a Chinese leader was when a Gerakan leader commented that ‘Try five years' is equivalent to a family offering their daughter to a man to use for five years.

Such comments are evidence of desperados. Chua when issuing such a challenge of PMship and whether DAP dares to demand for four influential ministers' posts if Pakatan takes over Putrajaya indirectly reopens the composition of the first cabinet whereby the finance, education, health and one other ministerships were allocated to MCA.

Although in reality which race occupies the posts is immaterial as long as they are capable, this is clear proof of MCA's impotency.

Onyourtoes: Chua, please get your observation right - those ministerial portfolios held by MCA ministers are not of lesser importance.

Only in Malaysia under Umno-BN, they consider health, transportation, local government and housing and tourism as unimportant, along with human resource development (held by a hapless Indian Malaysian).

In fact, these are the most important functions of the government if the government is genuinely interested in the welfare of the people. The tragedy is Umno-BN not only consider these functions unimportant, they also have taken away all the substantive powers of these portfolios.

Ask the MCA transport minister what power he has other than dishing out car plate numbers. He can't decide taxi, bus or lorry permits; he can't formulate public transport policies, he has totally no say in public transportation infrastructure and he has no say over privatisation and operation of Puspakom.

And Chua is admitting that the MCA is useless, because all the ministers from the party are appointed to so-called useless ministries and the saddest part is you are imputing that when Pakatan takes over, the arrangement will be the same.

Even if your assumption is true, I think the rakyat are still willing to give it a try, after all, there is nothing further to lose.

Up2U: Since Merdeka, MCA - the second biggest BN party - has been losing ground.

MCA traded a finance minister post for a transport minister post, followed by the clipping of all those important agencies like LPKP (now Spad), tenders, etc, away from the Transport Ministry.

Not to say that the finance minister must be a Chinese, or for that matter any other minister.

The better and suitable candidate should be chosen, unlike the present system of distributing and sharing ministerships among the component parties despite the fact that many are not suitable at all.

Chipmunk: Sad to say, Chua does not have any moral values, what more etiquette.

With his tainted background, no wonder people in MCA are also rejecting him. With him, MCA is going down the drain by being the running dog for their master, Umno.

Him being a Chinese himself is willing to put another Chinese down. What more can one say as a Malaysian?
