Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Maximus Ongkili said a decision on the appeal by three individuals against Lynas Advanced Materials Plant's temporary operating licence (TOL), would be made in two weeks time.

NONEOngkili (left) said he went through the 14 submissions raised as the basis of their appeal, but needed more time to consult related experts and authorities, before making a decision.

"There are still some issues that I have to look into and I expect to settle everything in two weeks time," he told reporters after launching the National Bioethics Council, in Kuala Lumpur today.

Nevertheless, Ongkili said he would not have to wait for the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Lynas Advance Materials Plant Project to conclude its findings, to decide on the matter.

The appeal was made by Ismail Abu Bakar, Tan Ah Meng and Abujavalli V Raman, who claimed to be affected by the Atomic Energy Licensing Board's Jan 30 decision to award a temporary operating licence for the Lynas Plant in Gebeng, Kuantan.
