Lawyer defends right to do 'butt exercises'

Pusat Rakyat Loyar Burok member Edmund Bon has defended the right of a group of army veterans to demonstrate in front of Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan’s house.
However, he also made it clear that he objects to the group’s message in their protest yesterday, saying there was no “clear message of public interest".
“They have the right to hold non-violent action whether (or not) you agree with their issue. Each citizen has the right to demonstrate,” said the human rights lawyer when contacted.
“I don’t agree (with the group's message) because, as I understand it, the message was merely to embarrass Ambiga."
He also sees no problems with the protest being held in front of Ambiga’s house “as long as it is non-violent”.
“(The demonstration) was done on a public road and not in a private home. To me, there is no problem,” he said.
He was commenting on a demonstration by about 15 people from the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association who wriggled their buttocks for about 15 minutes in front of Ambiga’s Bukit Damansara home.
