The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has agreed to Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak's (PBDS) proposed timetable for holding a fresh poll to elect new office bearers.

The schedule, submitted recently to the Home Ministry and ROS by the party's secretary-general Stanley Ajang, includes holding branches' annual general meetings and culminating with a new triennial delegates conference (TDC) covering a period of seven months from April.

A party source said today that with the ROS' approval to the timetable, the TDC will most likely be held in October.

Tajem recognised

Meanwhile, in reply to a query by PBDS rival faction leader Dr James Masing (photo: right), the Home Ministry has clarified the status of the party's supreme council with Daniel Tajem (photo: left) as acting president.

The source told malaysiakini that the letter, addressed to the party's secretary-general and copied to Masing, indicated that the supreme council's role is only to organise the party polls as soon as possible.

July had earlier been suggested to PBDS leaders, but they said more time is needed if the election rules and regulations are to be strictly observed.
