PAS to Karpal: Let's celebrate our differences

vox populi small thumbnailBender: Now is the time for Pakatan Rakyat components to see eye-to-eye on key issues. You should have no more petty squabbles and you shouldn't get easily distracted by acts of provocation. Whatever differences you have should be set aside, at least for now.

This time, it is not only party leaders who want this coalition to work, we the rakyat are also full of hope that the component parties will put other matters aside and focus on the main prize - winning the election.

PAS' willingness to compromise on its hudud position is a great sacrifice. Umno (and its dogs) will bark endlessly following this pronouncement by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, but again, let's focus on the bigger prize, and let them bark all they want.

Above all, PAS people must stand firm behind their leaders. Any dissatisfaction can be worked out later in the spirit of cooperation of Pakatan.

Kim Quek: Thanks Hadi, for your wise words; you have saved the day. I thought we have already agreed to disagree and to work on consensus. Why distract ourselves with disagreement on the eve of the battle of the century?

Blogsmith: Hadi, focussing on common goals is what DAP chairperson Karpal Singh has talked about and it is also what we want. Both Karpal and we want PAS to focus on the common policies of Pakatan and not have PAS constantly harping on the hudud issue.

Ksn: Was there a reason for PAS to bring up the matter in the first place, considering the circumstances and rapport the Pakatan parties are enjoying, and was there a reason for Karpal to comment on it?

This is a matter that has been talked about too many times and it is time for Pakatan to focus on really important national issues, like what Hadi has mentioned in the news report.

Shakinghead: Somebody is not using their grey matter. Stop being morons. Look at the big picture. Get to Putrajaya first, then fight. Don't count your chickens now. You haven't got them yet.

You are fighting over nothing. After you win, go ahead and fight. If you cannot resolve it, we voters will vote you out. You will soon be back in the opposition.

Boiling Mud I wish PAS would stop harping on about hudud to avoid spooking the people who practise different faiths. Let's focus on the more urgent issue of a fair and transparent electoral system. Without it, everything is naught.

We will cross the other bridges when the time comes. Think about it, when one has too much heaven in the mind, one can't possibly see the more immediate issues that have been and still are affecting everyone in this country of ours.

Ketuanan Rakyat: I am a DAP member and I agree with Hadi. Focus on the common stand and work on the immediate goal, which is to win the next GE against all odds.

Mega corruption under Umnoputras is the main threat to Malaysia now. Karpal, don't get yourself distracted by other side issues now.

Anonymous_40f4: Only MCA chief Dr Chua Soi Lek fears hudud. But he needs not, because hudud is the law of Allah and it applies only to Muslims. A true Muslim in principle cannot reject or refuse hudud so we salute PAS for that.

Umno is also scared of hudud because many in Umno are corrupt to the core and are womanisers. But Umno claims to protect Islam to con the Malays. If Umno is sincere, then they must implement hudud in the syariah courts for all Muslims.

Anonymous #06659895: As a non-Muslim, I am not scared of hudud. It applies solely to those corrupt big timers. At least hudud is better than justice in China where they just shoot the corrupt.

I believe those people who are scared are from Umno and BN, like Pek Moh (white hair, Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud), and so on.

It does not apply to the non-Muslims. In my opinion, heavy punishment should be given to the corrupt big timers.

Lovegives Why should we non-Muslims worry if hudud law is only applicable to the Muslims? Let us go for it. The fellows who swindle the rakyat's money deserve punishment under hudud law.

Mahindar Singh: Hadi is absolutely right. Let's not waste time on arguing over hudud laws. Probably we need these laws to wipe out corruption


Parliament to be dissolved this week, says report

Multi Racial: Calling an early election is a blatant act of defying the demands of Bersih, which basically means BN does not care what the majority of Malaysians want.

Should the GE proceed without acceding to Bersih demands, and there is massive fraud discovered in the GE that results in undeserving politicians getting seats, then Bersih organisers have no choice but to call for Bersih 4.0.

This time, all Malaysians should join hands and make it our own version of Arab Spring to save this country.

Kairos: If Najib calls for the GE in June, then the rakyat will be ready. In reality, there's hardly any difference between now and later in the year. The issues will not change.

One way or another, the people have already made up their minds. The results will be close. Our prayer is that whoever wins, let there be peace and harmony in the country. Let the winner be gracious and the loser not be a sore loser for the good of the country.

Ultimately, let good sense rule and not destroy everything that our founding fathers had built. All Malaysians must now begin to pray for the nation.

No Racism: Najib will not call for an election now because he still can wait for another year. Najib knows that after GE13, he will be kicked out because BN will lose more seats.

Umno will not be happy with the results and will sack him. Najib knows this and therefore he will enjoy his premiership till the end of his term.
