Jalur Tiga (Jati) president Dr Hasan Ali has filed a writ of summons against PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar over an allegation that he had received aid from the government and is scheduled to be heard on June 4.

Hasan filed the suit through Messrs Kamarul Hisham & Hasnal Rezua on April 12 and High Court judge Dr Prasad Sandosham Abraham fixed the date to enable both the plaintiff and the defendant to present their claims and defences.

The plaintiff claimed that Mahfuz made a defamatory statement at a news conference on March 2 and it was published by several newspapers and posted on news portals.

Hasan is seeking general damages, including exemplary damages for libel and an injunction to prevent Mahfuz from repeating the defamatory words in any medium.
