Fresh from allegations of being in a sex video, the onslaught on PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's personal life continued yesterday when his mother, Che Tom Yahaya, went on national television to plead for his return to the family.

The interview was also splashed on major newspapers today including in Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian in which a teary Che Tom related Azmin's 'belligerent behaviour' towards his controversial sister Umi Hafilda.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Che Tom related how Azmin had cut ties with her after he became angry to find Umi at the family's home, and urged her son to "return to the right path".

"I have not disowned him but if he wishes to return there are two conditions. Return to the right path and repent to Allah, and stop being with that group (PKR).

"Many of his friends have already left, he should too, then he can return," she was quoted as saying.

"Or else, even if I (am about to) die I do not want to see him, there is no meaning, he does not want to see me while I'm alive then there is no need to see me when I die," she added.

In the report, she described Azmin as a "good person" and pointed to opposition Anwar Ibrahim as responsible for the "change" in him.

"I think it could be Anwar, he was not like this before, now he would not even recognise his own sister," she was quoted as saying.
