The Malaysian Meteorological Department sent out an orange alert on thunder storms and heavy rain affecting Kuala Lumpur and Selangor which were expected to continue till today evening.

In its statement, the department said that the areas affected in Selngaor were the Petaling, Kuala Langat, Gombak, Hulu Langat, Sepang and Klang districts.  

Meanwhile, the same warning was sent out to several places in other states such as Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu districts), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak and Batang Padang districts), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu and Jempol districts), Johor (Segamat, Kluang and Mersing districts), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong,Rompin, Pekan and Kuantan districts), Kelantan (Gua Musang district) and Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman districts).

Facing a similar situation are the Mukah (Mukah district) and Sibu (Selangau district) areas in Sarawak, which were expected to experience heavy rainfall till dusk.

Similar weather conditions were also expected to befall Pahang (Temerloh and Bera districts), Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Terengganu and Marang districts) and Sarawak in areas around Limbang, Miri and Bitulu.

The situation could possibly induce strong winds and flash floods.
