Both PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat have expressed readiness to support and attend the fourth Bersih rally if it is called.

According to media reports today, Hadi said the Bersih 4.0 rally may be called if the government fails to improve the electoral system as demanded by the opposition.

"We will see first. If the (government) does not make changes, cheats in the election again, the media is not free and the electoral roll is not clean, we will do it (Bersih 4.0) again," he is quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying.

NONEHadi made the statement after officiating the annual general meeting of Terengganu PAS Youth wing in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.

In Kota Baru, Nik Aziz, who is also Kelantan menteri besar, pledged his support for another Bersih rally if it is held in the near future.

"If there are Bersih 4, 5 or 6, I will support fully because the way to get rid of vices is through demonstrations. It is better than burning flags. That is why I say it is obligatory to attend Bersih," Sinar Harian quotes Nik Aziz as saying.

He further explained that demonstrations are the modern way to fight against the vices of Umno, and Prophet Muhammad had said that vices should be fought with hand, tongue and heart.

Nik Aziz also defended his action to provide transport allowance for Bersih 3.0 participants, arguing that a demonstration needs the involvement of many people.

Saudi Arabia to act on protests in Mecca?

On another related development, the Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia reported that the Saudi Arabian authority has initiated investigations into the Bersih 3.0 solidarity activities held in Mecca and Madinah.

Quoting a blog called sel13.com, the daily said Saudi Arabia's intelligence agency has received information on the involvement of several international NGOs that serve the Jewish agenda in the activities.

According to the blog, most of the Bersih activists in both cities are Malaysian students pursuing Islamic study courses and sponsored by the Saudi Arabian government, as well as Malaysians who were performing their umrah.

It claimed that the sponsored students would face action from the Saudi Arabian authority while the others may be expelled from the country.
