NFC: We're only targeting Rafizi, not whistleblower

Speaking before lodging a formal complaint with Bank Negara, he said NFC’s beef is with PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli.
“We have not mentioned anybody but Rafizi. He is trying to (push) the problem to other people (when) he created the problem,” he said.
Mohamad Salleh, who was accompanied by son and NFC chief executive officer Wan Shahinur Izmir, lodged the complaint against Rafizi and Public Bank Bhd with Bank Negara Malaysia investigating officer Mazlan Ahmad.
According to lawyer Wan Shahrizal Wan Ladin, the complaint was for disclosing banking details of Mohamad Salleh and other NFC directors, which contravenes the Banking and Financial InstitutionS Act (Bafia).
This is in relation to a March 7 press conference where Rafizi used banking details to reveal that NFC’s directors had made a personal purchase of eight units at KL Eco City, worth millions of ringgit.
In a media statement distributed later, Mohamad Salleh said Public Bank had “failed in its promise on privacy and security outlined in the bank’s client charter”.
He added that NFC had lodged a formal complaint with Public Bank Bhd on March 30.
“Despite correspondence with the bank by NFC lawyers, the bank had failed to comply with the demands of the companies and directors,” he said.
In a separate media statement, Rafizi is accused of defaming Mohamad Salleh and his family, by saying they were having difficulties servicing the loans taken for the KL Eco City purchase.
Mohamed Salleh said no loans were taken to purchase the units as the bank "withdrew" the loan offer which it had initially made on May 23, 2011.
He added that the cancellation of the loan offer was confirmed in a letter from the bank dated Jan 4, 2012.
"What this simply means is that, without loans taken, there cannot be loan repayments," he said.
“How Rafizi concluded that I had defaulted on personal loan repayments for the KL Eco City properties are baseless, without foundation, without merit, a lie and defamatory to myself and my family."
Also accompanying him for the brief meeting with Bank Negara today were three other lawyers, including Mohamad Shafee Abdullah.
Salleh runs NFC with Izmir, and his other two children.
The company was awarded the National Feedlot Centre project and was given a government soft loan of RM250 million.
