DBKL to Bersih: Prepare to face the music

your sayDr C: Dear Kuala Lumpur mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail, I think the Bersih 3.0 supporters will be most willing to face the music.

This is just a peaceful sit-in, and will last only two hours. If there's any chaos, you should be the one to be blamed.

Dingy: The mayor took action against students because there were not many of them. Is the mayor going to take action against tens of thousands of Malaysians?

Unless the mayor gets the police to stand by with water cannon and tear gas, it's not possible for DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) staff to handle the huge number of people.

Tough action will bring bad publicity for Prime Minister Najib Razak. This will be reported all over the world. A confrontation will give the government a bad name.

Fuad has no say as it's the premier who calls the shots. Bersih 3.0 will again be given the run around if they accept Fuad's proposal to hold it in Stadium Merdeka.

It would be subject to the stadium board's approval. You bet, the stadium board will reject the Bersih 3.0 rally.

Crony-x: The KL mayor reports to the Federal Territory Minister Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin. He never won a parlimentary seat but became minister for KL where the overwhelming majority of the MPs there are from Pakatan Rakyat.

Raja Nong Chik appears quiet about the whole affair, there is not even a whisper from him. He must have thought that this would draw bad publicity to him, so he lets the mayor do the dirty work.

Politicians are passing the buck to the so-called civil servants. Now we have civil servants acting like politicians.

Dont Just Talk: Ahmad Fuad, you don't speak for the rakyat as you are a Umno mayor and Dataran Merdeka does not belong to your grandfather. You mean to say that Dataran Merdeka can only be used by Umno or Perkasa?

The Wilayah Persekutuan (Federal Territory) has 11 parliamentary seats and Pakatan won 10, with nearly 91% of popular vote at the March 2008 general election. How is it that Umno gets to appoint a mayor when it should be Pakatan?

Bersih 3.0 is on, whether you approve or disapprove the use of Dataran Merdeka come what may.

Anonymous #97893788: The federal government is using the datuk bandar (mayor) as the fall guy. So anything ugly happens, he will take the blame. He is going to retire anyway.

If the home minister is really serious about allowing Bersih 3.0, the datuk bandar would never dare to come out with such statement.

Malaysia ABU: Sorry, Ahmad Fuad, you are not our mayor. Our capital city mayor shall be an elected official by the people and for the people.

The people shall clean up the electoral process, then clean up the government and bring back the local council elections. You will be remembered as KL's last pseudo-mayor.

Try not to blacken your name. You and your family are also rakyat Malaysia. I will be there and nothing can stop me.

For A Better Malaysia: The mayor seems scared of the power of Bersih. Sit-ins planned in 29 countries - all fine, except in Malaysia.

Lets Be Fair: The music will definitely start with a waltz and will increase slowly to the frequency of tango and then to rock.

Bersih 3.0 is going to rock for justice and freedom. Mr Mayor, join in and enjoy the music.

D4f: What music? The music died a long, long time ago. We will be in Dataran to bring back the happy times.

Armageddon: It must be great to be a mayor, until today, isn't it? All this while, the mayor has been enjoying life, getting respect from the public and VIP treatment wherever he goes.

Suddenly, we have Bersih 3.0, and the mayor have to decide which side he is on. He has to choose between his rice bowl and doing the right thing.

He chose his rice bowl. But does he realise that when Pakatan wins the next election, it may take away his rice bowl. It pays to do the right thing, Mr Mayor.

Kairos: If DBKL wants a showdown with the rakyat this Saturday, so be it. Let's see who blinks first. There will be in excess of 20,000 of us there. How many DBKL officers can they muster?

Even if the police field force and the riot police come out to support them, we will not be afraid. We shall withstand the water cannons, the beatings and the abuse.

Might has never been right. History proves it. We will be there for a just and noble cause and we are not trouble-makers. But if the DBKL authorities think that we are scared of them, they better think again.

They will have to contend with over 20,000 of us. Any injuries or fatalities will be very costly to the government not only in terms of votes but also international condemnation. The brave rakyat have got nothing to lose.

Maplesyrup: Considering that the voters of Kuala Lumpur voted for Pakatan in GE12, it tells us that the DBKL administration under BN does not have the mandate of the people.

They should heed the call of the PM, and know that the time that the government knows best, is over. The pretender mayor should start to treat his bosses, the rakyat, with respect and decorum.
