DPM: Electricity, clean water for all schools next year

All schools nationwide will have electricity and clean water supply by next year, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said.
Muhyiddin, who is Education Minister, said at the moment there were 46 clean water supply facilities which had yet to operate as the related electricity supply projects were still under way.
“Under the 10th Malaysia Plan, the ministry plans to implement clean water projects to ensure all schools throughout the country are supplied with clean water,” he said in his written reply to Chong Eng (DAP-Bukit Mertajam) at the Dewan Rakyat today.
He said 570 electricity supply projects nationwide had been or are being implemented during the 9MP and 10MP involving 42 in the peninsula, 179 in Sabah and 427 in Sarawak.
The ministry was also planning to implement 1,605 building maintenance projects nationwide under the Special Stimulus Programme 2012 with a total cost of RM435 million, he said.
