Two Rela members claimed trial in a sessions court in Putrajaya today on a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, leading to the death of a Nigerian man.

Another two also claimed trial, before a magistrate's court in the federal administrative capital, to causing hurt to Nigerian Onoche Chukwononso on March 31.

NONE Ibrahim Abd Jalil, 27, and P Jegathiswaran, 35, were charged in the sessions court with causing the death of Chukwononso, who is in his 30s, at the Tower 3, Venice Hill Condominium at Batu 9, Cheras, about 11.15am on March 31.

If convicted, Ibrahim and Jegathiswaran can be jailed for up to 30 years.

In the magistrate's court, V Kumaran, 36, was charged with causing hurt to Chukwononso by kicking the Nigerian in the abdomen, at the same place and time, while another, R Gejenthiran, 18, is charged with hurting Chukwononso with a rotan.

All four were represented by a Bar Council's Legal Aid Bureau representative T Samidurai, while DPP R Siamalah appeared for the prosecution.

Sessions judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh, allowed bail at RM12,000 with one surety each for Ibrahim and Jegathiswaran.

Magistrate Aina Zaharah Arifin allowed bail at RM1,000 with one surety each for Kumaran and Gejenthiran.

Both cases have been fixed for mention on May 14.
