Sarawak Report links Musa Aman's sons to kickbacks

vox populi small thumbnailJames1067: The battle has begun with Prime Minister Najib Razak and Malaysian Minister of Rural and Regional Development Shafie Apdal in one corner, and Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman in the other with the attorney-general caught in between.

This is as interesting as a sitcom. Whoever wins may get Sabah under their control, unless a Sabahan leader who has the state at heart wakes up.

This is the time for Sabahans to make sure they vote for the right man otherwise these politicians will carve up the state among themselves and their cronies, like in Sarawak.

Just me: This is truly a clear case of abuse of power and corruption of the highest order. What surprises me is, why is the PM's office quiet over this?

Gobsmacked!: My sympathies go out to those honest hardworking MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) officers who work their guts out to build up a case against the corrupt and try to achieve the objectives for which the MACC is set up.

And all for nothing because those accused have connections with the AG who ensures that no further action is taken. How frustrating it must be.

Then there is the MACC trio in the Teoh Beng Hock case who blackened the reputation of MACC officers by their actions which drove Teoh to his untimely death.

By his lack of action, the AG is sabotaging the real purpose of MACC's existence and sending a message to honest and hardworking MACC officers not to bother with big-ticket corruption.

Just concentrate on the ones that involve the opposition (and piddly sums) and the prosecution will follow through for sure. The AG should be thoroughly investigated.

Anonymous_3f4a: The people should be under no illusion about businessman Michael Chia's intimate linkage to Musa over the timber trade in Sabah and the close relations between Musa/Anifah Aman and the AG.

It's diabolical to see how state funds and the people's monies are being siphoned off to Hong Kong through dubious timber trades.

How can Musa still sit as chief minister and chairman of Yayasan Sabah? The illicit monies found in Hong Kong banks are clear evidence of abuse of power, money-laundering, corruption, etc.

Why the authorities still procrastinating taking action is anyone's guess. Taking into account Najib's inaction, how can he still claim the Umno-BN government is still the proven one for the rakyat?

Is it not hypocrisy of the highest order?


Only 4 MPs ink TI-M election integrity pledge

Kgen: What is the value of an integrity pledge? It is only as good as the character of the person signing it. If MP Zulkifli Nordin or state representative Hee Yit Foong sign the integrity pledge, does that make them honest politicians?

I don't put much stock on this pledge as it can be broken without penalty. It is nothing more than cheap propaganda at zero cost to the politician.

At worse, it can be used to mislead the public. The public should decide for themselves who are the honest ones without having to resort to such pledges which can be broken with impunity.

Sadirah: What does this say for integrity? Only four, and none from the DAP. Come on, commit yourself or otherwise do not go into politics and be like the family members of Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, who are afraid of being investigated.

So many have so much money that one does not know how they beat paying income tax. As an honest wage earner, I am just amazed that people can live such high lives when the income tax rate is 28 percent.

Perhaps income from approved permits and gifts of RM250 million are out of the range of the income tax collectors. It is the small-income earner who is subject to such laws.

How can a young man own a Porsche? What is his source of income and how much tax does he pay?

These are issues that must be investigated. The rule of law means that we are all subject to the same laws without special laws for some.

But perhaps the laws are the same, but there is selective application when it comes to ministers and MPs.

Transparency International-Malaysia, you have now got an indication of the state of integrity of the country and what Malaysian politicians think about it.

Wanderer: The PM and DPM should take the lead. What is holding these two back? Too much ill-gotten stuff in the closet? It is simply impossible to expect Umno leaders to lead by example.

Anonymous_40c8: I don't expect the BN MPs would want to sign up but I expect all the Pakatan MPs to do so. Whether enforceable or not, not signing means you have "problems" that cannot see the light.
