The Dewan Rakyat  today passed the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2012.           

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin, when winding up the debate for the motion, explained that the amendment was to allow taxpayers to claim for deductions for the cash donations for the operations of education institutions as well as for religious purposes.      

During the debate, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan (BN-Kota Belud), said the bill once again demonstrated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's sincerity in instituting fundamental changes in the country.               

At the same sitting, the Dewan Rakyat also approved the Financial Reporting (Amendment) Bill 2012 and the Labuan Companies (Amendment) Bill 2012.
