'Dubious' voters may determine GE13 outcome

vox populi small thumbnail Open Minded: The electoral reforms are just scratching on the surface with no concrete attempts or efforts at plugging the holes that allow dubious and unofficial votes being included into the ballot boxes, seemingly with the blessings of the EC.

This forthcoming general election is going to be the dirtiest in terms of the ruling coalition's attempts to retain power at all costs and continue filling their pockets with riches meant for the people.

Reading the comments from the Election Commission head, one gets the impression he is an obedient public servant for a private and exclusive purpose, not one who shows impartiality. Let us hope that the truth and justice will eventually prevail.

Onyourtoes: Why do we need PSC (parliamentary select committee) on Poll Reform? We just need Ong Kian Ming.

Pakatan and the rakyat should together find a way to pay him, or least compensate him whatever expenses incurred.

At the same time, Pakatan must petition the government to commission Ong to lead a task force to clean up the electoral roll. The government must pay him and his team of researchers, just like the government had paid Apco.

Jean Pierre: To scour through 12 million records to find duplicate entries regarding name and/or birth date is not as daunting a task as it's made out to be.

It's not like they are using Excel. And yes, researchers and politicians would not know how to go about it, but they can hire an IT guy who does.

Armageddon: The only solution is to scrap postal voting. But BN will not allow that because they will lose the coming general election. And the Election Commission has no balls to do the right thing.

Whatsup: In all possibility, Pakatan Rakyat would have won the 2008 election and would already be the government now had not been for large-scale fraud assisted by no other than the EC which is tasked to ensure fairness.

So that means this government is illegitimate as it isn't supported by the majority of the rakyat.

EC has no more excuses not to clean up the electoral roll and it's so obvious the current leaders of EC need to be thrown out and replaced with more able and competent officers.

Ferdtan: The Pakatan coalition should hound relentlessly these agents of fraud for letting their names to be used.

The least the opposition can do is to come out and threaten them for their follies; so as not only to stop them but to act as a deterrent to others who have similar ideas.

Better still, if they can trace a few of them such as Mohd Firdaus Rasihan, Naim Muhd, Mohd Khairul Nizam, Norliayana and the 'sex-mixed' Zaini binti Hamzah or Zain bin Hamzah; threaten them with lawsuits so that they can come out in open to deny, or confess their complicity in the fraud.

Punish a few without mercy and millions would-be criminals will be put in fear. That is how the most populated country in the world, China, controls its citizens - by chopping off criminals' heads as a deterrent.

Of course, we are not advocating such drastic action, but something on similar lines.

Slumdog: Don't be surprised that the part of the CCTV footage involving Minister in the PM's Department Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz's son in the fracas at the condominium will be "accidently" deleted.

It will be blamed on a low-level police officer who "accidently" pressed the delete button when he thought he was pressing the play button.

Conclusion: No evidence of Nazri's son's involvement, case closed, NFA (no further action). This is what we have come to expect from the Umno police and the AG (attorney-general).

Sad Malaysian: It's not on YouTube yet... someone should make a copy and put it on the Internet (in case the police modify the video).

If he wasn't, he should be suspended pending investigation, and if true, be subsequently demoted or sacked.

If we were to measure the quality of our police force by Wan Bari's standard, we cannot help but say that the police are largely an unprofessional force licking the boots of their political masters.

Is this how the IGP (inspector-general of police) and his deputy want to present the image of the police? They cannot afford to remain silent, because silence means openly condoning Wan Bari's actions.

Malaysiawatch: The condo management should also protect the security company, just as it looks after the residents.
