Outgoing Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said today that she felt relieved that Prime Minister Najib Razak would taking over her portfolio.
In a statement, Shahrizat expressed her gratitude to Najib for making the announcement (that he would be taking over her portfolio) when the prime minister opened the Pahang-level Karisma 1Azam programme in Temerloh today.
At the event, Najib had announced that he would be acting as minister of women, family and community development after Shahrizat's term as senator ends tomorrow.
Najib, however, did not say whether he would be acting in the post until a specific date.
On March 11, Shahrizat had announced that she would step down as women, family and community development minister on April 8 in light of the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) controversy.
The NFC became embroiled in controversy after the company running it, NFC Corp, which is managed by Shahrizat's husband, failed to meet scheduled targets for beef production.
The government had provided a RM250 million soft loan for the project.
