The government has not barred a proposed ballet performance at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) in Kuala Lumpur this weekend, says Information, Communications and Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim.

“There is no ban and the show should go on as planned,” he told Bernama today.

NONERais (right) had also said that he loved all the arts and theatre, and that ballet should be encouraged.

An official from Puspal (Agensi Pusat Permohonan Penggambaran Filem dan Persembahan Artis Luar Negara) or the Central Agency for the Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes, said there might have been a miscommunication by some parties concerned by claiming that the performance by the Singapore Dance Theatre had been disallowed.

In fact, he said the application for the performance permit had only been made at 12.30pm today.

He said Puspal’s committee would be considering the application, adding that there should not be any problem since it had given a similar approval two years ago.

Puspal also posted a notice on its website that a report by an online news portal that the Singapore Dance Theatre was forced to cancel its plans after failing to get approval from the agency was without basis and inaccurate.
