MCA: Teng has tarnished DAP's credentials

Selangor state assembly speaker Teng Chang Khim's Blackberry blunder has tarnished DAP's image as a democratic party, MCA's Sungai Pelek assemblyperson Yap Ee Wah today said.
"Pakatan Rakyat always claims that it is a coalition that practises democracy and justice, but Pakatan suppresses its opponents, and has never given any opportunity for BN representatives to voice their protests.
"Teng has tarnished the good image of DAP that it is a fair and democratic party," Yap said in a press statement today.
He was referring to Teng's SMS sent during the state assembly sitting last Wednesday, urging exco members to talk about Selangor's successes, which sparked accusations that he was biased towards the state government.
Calling Teng's action "an abuse of power", Yap questioned whether the DAP leader could give his assurance that he would act fairly as a speaker.
Teng has since denied any wrongdoing, pointing out that he had taken to task exco members who were out of line and has assisted BN assemblypersons on house procedural matters in his capacity as a multi-term representative.
