Road Transport Department (RTD) director-general Solah Mat Hassan today announced that ‘mysikap’, the department’s computerised system, would be fully operational from June onwards.  
 
Solah explained that ‘mysikap’, an upgraded version of their existing system, had a higher capacity and enhanced security features.    

The RM282 million upgrade was part of the department’s Transformation Programme, to encourage more people to conduct their transactions online, he added.  

“At the moment, the enforcement and revenue modules have started functioning and we are targeting 85 percent online transactions by 2015,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting the RTD’s 2011 Excellent Service Awards to 494 staff throughout peninsular Malaysia at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall in Kuantan today.

According to him, the system would enable faster processing of road tax and licence renewal, registration data and related transactions.  

He said that the e-Government Service Provider such as www.myeg.com.my was still in operation even though ‘mysikap’ provided the same services.

He added that as of next week the temporary transfer of title from vehicle owners to used car dealers can be effected online for a fee of RM25 to be borne by the dealer.
