Kedah PAS commissioner Azizan Abdul Razak said that PAS will not concede any of the 24 seats it contested in the 2008 general election to other Pakatan Rakyat parties.

He was reported by Malay newspapers Berita Harian and Utusan Malaysia as saying that if DAP wanted to contest in more seats, they would have to negotiate with PKR.

“DAP and PKR may be able to (negotiate), and if they can’t solve this then they can solve this at the Kuala Lumpur level.

“The Presidents’ Council can handle this, so let them decide. I am only in charge of PAS’ seats (in Kedah),” he was quoted as saying.

Kedah DAP told Malaysiakini that it is leaving the matter to the
central leaderships of DAP and PKR.

“We are not demanding, we will let our national leadership decide and we will respect that decision but we would like to have more seats as we do have strongholds in Kedah too,” said state DAP chairperson Lee Guan Aik.

Ex-reps on roadshow for BN

Meanwhile, the former elected representatives association (Mubarak) said that it is on a roadshow to 63 parliamentary constituencies and 161 state constituencies considered “marginal seats”.

Its president, Abdul Aziz Rahman, said the roadshow will also involve NGOs made up of former teachers, government retirees, former servicemen and youth to rally for BN’s and Umno’s polls victory.  

“They make up about 60 percent of the voters in this area... Our research shows most of them are not members of political parties and are fence-sitter whom we may have neglected,” he said.
