A concert here this week by Spanish singing hearthrob Enrique Iglesias has been scrapped due to poor ticket sales, a report said today.

The New Straits Times said ticket sales were so far below expectations that local organiser LCM Group-Live Concerts had called off the March 30 concert at the national Bukit Jalil sports stadium on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.

Only 2,000 tickets - priced from RM77 to RM252 ringgit - were sold, it said.

Fully refunded

"It is disappointing," LCM managing director Harold Learmond-Criqui told the daily. He said all ticket holders would be fully refunded.

The concert was to be part of the Enrique 7 tour in Asia, which has already seen shows cancelled in Hong Kong and in the Philippines, reportedly for logistical reasons.

Iglesias, the son of veteran Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias, is still scheduled to play in Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta. - AFP
