Preferring to maintain a dynamic candidates list for the 13th general election, Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairperson Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir emphasised today that anyone could be dropped from it if they failed to exhibit consistent service to the people.      

He warned that the list would be continuously evaluated and therefore no one could promote themselves as being eligible by claiming to have close ties with  him, the prime minister or deputy prime minister.     

“We have a candidates list but it’s possible to drop those who appeared to have the potential in the beginning but turn out otherwise in the end. The prime minister himself has advised that the selection this time should focus more on the people, as to whether the candidates are the people’s choice or if they have rapport with the people or can win and remain loyal to the party,” he told  reporters today.   

He was speaking after his meeting with the staff of the state secretary office and celebrating his 50th birthday at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building in Ipoh.

Commenting on Perak BN’s chances for the next general election, Zambry, who is also menteri besar, said they were prepared to defend the state but would not mimic the opposition by forecasting the number of seats they could win.
