The infamous ‘Mat Solo the Kancil Man - an elusive car thief in the federal capital - was finally nabbed by police in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur last week.

Brickfields OCPD ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the suspect earned the title ‘solo’ for carrying out his crimes alone.

He said the suspect was believed to be involved in 50 cases of stealing Proton Iswara and Perodua Kancil in Wangsa Maju, Pudu, and Lembah Pantai since last year.

“Following the arrest, police recovered nine Perodua Kancils and a Proton Iswara which were reported missing in different places,” he told a media conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Wan Abdul Bari said police also succeeded in crippling a car robbery and housebreaking gang in Brickfields following the capture of two suspects aged 36 and 37 years in Sri Petaling on March 11.

The two suspects were arrested in a police operation when another robbery was reported in the area.
