The draft of the Klang Valley Land Public Transport Master Plan has been completed and will be posted soon on the Land Public Transport Commission’s (Spad) website for public viewing and feedback.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Ahmad Maslan said the draft, which was fully prepared by Spad, was aimed at encouraging the use of public transport among the people, besides reducing dependency on private vehicles in urban areas.

Apart from that, it is also aimed at establishing more integrated, efficient and affordable public transport services, he said in reply to Fong Kui Lun (DAP-Bukit Bintang) at the Dewan Rakyat sitting in Kuala Lumpur today.

Fong had wanted to know about Spad’s proposal and plans to fine-tune and improve public transport services in Kuala Lumpur.

Ahmad said the master plan comprised six main components, including urban rail development plans for the Express Rail Link (ERL), Light Rail Transit (LRT) and KTM Komuter.

“The rail services will become the backbone of the high-capacity urban transportation and will cover the most densely populated areas,” he added.
