Appointment letters presented to MACC Advisory Board members

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah presented letters of appointment to 14 members of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Advisory Board at Istana Negara today.

Former solicitor-general Zaitun Zawiyah Puteh, who is also MACC Advisory Board chairperson, headed the list of recipients at the ceremony.
Also on the list were former Sarawak state secretary Dr Hamid Bugo; former International Islamic University of Malaysia Rector Prof Dr Mohd Kamal Hassan; News Straits Times Press chairperson Mohamed Jawhar Hassan; Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance president Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas; and former Human Rights Commission vice-chairperson Simon Sipaun.
Others included Royal Selangor International Sdn Bhd managing director Yong Poh Kon; former Public Services Department director-general Ismail Adam; Knight Capital Sdn Bhd deputy chairman Rashpal Singh Jeswant Singh; Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Distinguished Professor Prof Ulung Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin; former Universiti Sains Malaysia professor Anwar Fazal; Oriental Hearts and Mind Study Institute executive director Dr Michael Yeoh Oon Kheng; Voices of Peace, Conscience and Reason president and writer Halimah Mohd Said and former Malaysian Bar Council president and senior advocate and solicitor Chelvarajah Ramasamy Reddiar.
The MACC Advisory Board was set up to advise the government on actions and procedures to fight corruption in Malaysia, as provided under Section 13 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
Among the advisory board’s terms is to advise the commission on policies and strategies to combat corruption and to review the commission’s annual report before it is handed to the Special Committee on Corruption.
