vox populi small thumbnailJames1067: The voice is getting louder as the public is sending message after message to the people in power that they are fed up with excuses. They have awoken to the fight against everything that is destroying the nation.

This is their home where they were born, educated and brought up, and there is no other country for them to call home, only Malaysia.

They want their children's future to be secure with quality education, healthcare, security and a place where there is no racial and religious division, where one respects all races and religions.

So, the future politicians who have the heart to put our country first rather than "me, my family, my relatives, my race" should take this challenge to serve.

FellowMalaysian: Thumbs up to all the participants who came from all over the country with bus loads from Penang, Perak and Kelantan.

The few police officers who were spotted stayed away from the crowd. It was indeed a field day for the crowd, many of whom had come from rural areas. The event was well-organised, so ‘bravo' to the NGOs who participated.

It's time we give our politicians and civil servants notice that corruption will no longer be tolerated. I think Malaysians are waking up as to who is the real boss. Well done, ladies.

Kairos: If people knew about this rally beforehand, more people would have joined. The frustration is not only confined to women but to all Malaysians of every race and gender.

The common rakyat are fed up with all the high-handedness of the ruling coalition and are sick of the blatant corruption and daylight robbery of taxpayer's by thick-skinned politicians, who are out to enrich themselves.

I hope the corrupt leaders are getting the message.

Zaid confirms contesting for Kota Bharu seat

Blogsmith: Parti Kita chief Zaid Ibrahim, first you said Parti Kita would not contest and will support Pakatan Rakyat. Now you go back on your words and say you are contesting because it is an opportunity...

An opportunity to spoil the hopes of those who want to give Pakatan at least one term as federal government to kick start badly-needed reforms, is what you are doing.

Think again Zaid, if you crush the hopes of the rakyat, they will remember you as the spoiler for eternity.

Lim Chong Leong: Zaid wants to clear his name at the expense of the bigger struggle against Umno tyranny and corruption. This only shows he is self-centred.

He is a selfish publicity hound and not a team player. He has definitely missed the bigger picture. It is more ‘saya' (me) than ‘Kita' (we) for this man.

Faz: Zaid, to contest in a political process is to be prepared to serve the constituency, not to clear your name. So, go on and my bet is you are going to lose not only your deposit but your self-esteem as well.

Jeremy Tankh: Zaid may actually ended up splitting BN votes if he contests, since he won the Kota Bharu parliamentary seat on the BN ticket by beating PKR at the 2004 general election.

Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that opposition supporters will ever vote for him, as long as Pakatan does not endorse him.

Trueglitter: With better exposure to Internet and unbiased non-government controlled news media now prevailing in country, it will be foolhardy of Zaid to believe that the rakyat is as gullible and simplistic as before to fall sway to his rhetorical outcries and political posturing.

Sadly, the general public perception is that he is a political chameleon, which has the ability to change with the political environment to ensure his own personal well-being and survival.

Utterances of late by Zaid that he's contesting due to his "political struggles not understood" only serves to confirm the fact of his undeniable hypocrisy and lack of sincerity when it's obvious for all he has gone back on his words and is indirectly scheming to sabotage Pakatan, and in the process hopes to reap the much desired recognition from his former masters in Umno for his planned re-entry into the party.

Metallic Black: Where are your principles, Zaid? It is not that we have misunderstood you, it is you yourself who had made a mess, so put your house in order first.
