The police have identified 15 men who went on a rampage and smashed 16 vehicles parked in the compound of an electronics company at the Bayan Lepas industrial area in Penang yesterday.
Southwest District deputy police chief Deputy Supt Lai Fah Hin said the police were tracking down the suspects, who were believed to be from outside Penang, and would make arrests soon.
The attack was believed to be emanated from a business misunderstanding and revenge, he told reporters at the meet-the-clients session in George Town today.
In the 2.15pm incident, the group of men brandishing machetes and hammers arrived in several cars and began smashing the vehicles, including that of a manager, and the glass panel.
However, all workers in the factory were safe as they were inside the building.
Lai said the case was being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries five years’ jail or a fine or both, if convicted.
