Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak today expressed his intention to go on leave but does not plan to appoint an acting menteri besar during his absence.

Azizan said if he had the opportunity, he would go on leave but he had yet to decide whether to take a long or short vacation.

“Going on leave is no big deal, just take the suitcase and buy an air ticket, then you fly. The vacation can be long or short. Not necessary to appoint someone to take over just to visit one’s grandchild.

“No acting (menteri besar), everything is in order, the storm has disappeared,” he told reporters after chairing an exco meeting in Alor Setar.

In another development, Azizan said the state government regretted the incident concerning Foong Chun Yuan, five, who died after hitting the glass door at the Kuala Kedah Jetty on Friday.

He said matters concerning the jetty was under the purview of the Marine Department and hoped the party concerned would take necessary measures to ensure the safety of tourists and members of the public.
