The Sibu Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) branch will feature a new face to recapture the Sibu parliamentary seat from the opposition in the coming 13th General Election.

The new face who is a leading corporate figure and Chinese community leader here is Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Meng, who is in his 60s.

The decision was taken at its branch meeting chaired by chairman Wong Soon Koh at the party's headquarters here this evening.

The meeting also chose to keep the incumbent of the Lanang seat, Tiong Thai King, as its candidate in the next GE.

All 15 heads of units under the branch were present at the meeting.

Wong said Lau's selection was unanimous and was in fact, supported by members of the bumiputra community.

Wong, who is also second state finance minister and Bawang Assan state assemblyman, said the names of the two candidates would be presented to the BN leadership soon.
