The formula to resolve the Kedah leadership crisis between the Menteri Besar and two state executive council (exco) members will be announced by the PAS central leaders at a press conference in KL tomorrow.

Party secretary-general Mustafa Ali said the PAS central committee meeting held in Alor Setar last night discussed the formula after Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak had met with the two exco members, Phahrolrazi Zawawi and Ismail Salleh.

"I cannot comment on the formula now. Wait until tomorrow. A press conference on the matter will be held at 11am to be attended by four top party leaders including myself, (vice-president) Salahuddin Ayub, deputy president Mohamad Sabu and also perhaps, president Abdul Hadi Awang," he said when contacted.

Mustafa said the PAS central leaders had a discussion with the three (Azizan, Phahrolrazi and Ismail) for two hours followed by a three-hour meeting of the PAS central committee to discuss the formula.

"We only ended the discussion at 3.30 this morning. That is why we cannot make the announcement today, but tomorrow at the party headquarters," he added.

Sources said the formula to resolve the crisis involved reappointing Phahrolrazi and Ismail to the state exco posts until the next general election although their term as exco members will end this March 7.

Besides that, Azizan will remain as menteri besar until the coming general election.

The Kedah leadership crisis came about when Phahrolrazi and Ismail declined to accept the reappointment due to their differences of opinion with Azizan until the PAS top leaders had to intervene.
